Summer has arrived and it’s only Spring!!

Wow! What fabulous weather we have had for the last three days in Bude and hopefully it will continue as the Easter holiday approaches!! Bude really has the “Wow factor” too, on days like this I would not want to live anywhere else in the whole of the UK. We are so lucky to have fantastic beaches, wonderful scenery and great coastal walks. People are relaxing at the outside cafes and enjoying a coffee, lunch or afternoon tea in the warm sunshine. So don’t delay booking a break as the phone and email bookings are on the increase as the season gets underway with a mini heatwave!!! Look forward to giving you a warm welcome in Bude soon!!

SPRING HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!!

At last the warmer weather has begun to put in an appearance and visitors are starting to arrive back in Bude to sample the many delights that the town has to offer. Spring flowers can be seen on the grass banks and what could be better than a walk on the beach or along the coastal path in the warm sunshine. Easter is approaching and bookings are coming in for the summer and for Jazz week in August already. Having recently spent a long weekend in London, my home town, I can full appreciate how lucky we are to live in this beautiful, relatively unspoilt part of the south west!

B is for Bude and Brrrrr it’s freezing!!

Actually right now Bude is bright and sunny, even if the temperature is freezing!!! So far we have avoided the snow that has affected other parts of the country and this often happens as we seem to have our own micro-climate in Bude. Five miles inland there can be 6 inches of snow and the weather here can be the same as today! Time to reflect on the past year and once again we have enjoyed the company of some wonderful people who have crossed over the doorstep as guests but who leave as friends who will return next year. That is the joy of being in this business which makes the hard work it takes to run it worthwhile at the end of the day – or season should I say!!

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our guests who stayed at The Grosvenor this year for choosing us and we hope to see many of you again next year. In the meantime may we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year!! With very best wishes from The Shingler Family.

Wacky Weather!

Boy are we having some weird weather this week, you have to feel sorry for those people camping in tents around the Bude area! What with the intermittent thunderstorms and torrential downpours and then the sun pops out for a few hours! Don’t you just love the British Summertime! The town seems to be as busy as ever and of course there are plenty of cosy little guest houses which will offer you a warm welcome and a place to dry off when getting soaked stops being fun!! Happy Days!!!!!!
