The weather may be unpredictable but the welcome you will receive when you arrive at The Grosvenor will always be warm and friendly. March has proved to be a month of high and lows in temperature and sunshine, as Easter is early this year it’s hard to predict what’s in store! However, we find our guests are normally prepared for anything and will always enjoy their stay no matter the weather! Bude has so much to offer including fantastic walks along the canal, beaches or coastal paths and a growing number of great little cafes for a warming beverage afterwards! Well January is well under way and after the excesses of Christmas and New Year it is good to get out for some exhilarating walks along the coastal path and beaches in and around Bude! Things are quieter in Bude during January and February and many visitors enjoy this time of year particularly. As long as you are prepared to wrap up warm, nothing beats a good walk or wander around the town followed by a yummy hot chocolate in one of the many local cafes! Bookings are starting to come in for later during the year and we are looking forward to a busy 2013 season, to welcoming our many regulars back again and to seeing lots of new faces! Well May is half way through and we are looking forward to a busy summer but first we have the Spring Bank Holiday and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee! Bude is a great place to be for the celebrations and there will be lots going on. During April I completed a calligraphy project for Lady Stucley of Hartland Abbey which is a beautiful historic house 15 miles away over the Devon Border and well worth a visit if you are staying in Bude! I am delighted to say that the Family History and Tree is now framed and on display in the Dining Room at the House. The weather has been rather changeable (to say the least) for the past few weeks but we have had some very warm beautiful days in between the heavy showers! I am pleased to say that the variable weather does not seem to stop visitors to the area and everyone is assured of a warm welcome here in Bude. If you are thinking of a summer holiday here, I would recommend you don’t leave it until the last minute as already we have limited availability! Hello everyone! Wow just realised it has been ages since I last blogged in the New Year and now Easter is around the corner! Cornwall is such a delightful place to be at any time of year but there is a real feeling in the air right now of freshness, new growth, all the delights of Spring such as daffodils at the side of the road and the promise of a glorious summer ahead! Bookings are coming through daily now for the April – October 2012 season and I would recommend if you are thinking of a holiday in Bude this year book now or we may not have the dates available that you want! When the sun is shining it is so tempting to leave the office and the bedmaking and go for a long walk across to the beach cafe and just sit and chill out! We are so lucky to live here in this beautiful spot so why not come and see exactly what I am talking about! Take care and hope to see you in 2012!

A slightly belated Happy New Year to everyone!  How many of you have already given up on your new year resolutions?  I have to say that I was a little late in starting mine but have at last launched into my new year plan for transformation!  The weather is unseasonably mild for the time of year which I hope does not mean that a FREEZE in on the way before the Spring arrives!  We have already had a slight flurry not of snow fortunately but of BOOKINGS!  It seems there are a few weddings planned in Bude this year and overseas visitors are planning their stopping off points already!  The Bude Jazz Festival is happening in spite of the rumours that it has been cancelled this year! Albeit in a slightly different format this year and running only from the Tuesday after the August Bank Holiday until the Friday inclusive with different organizers.  Jeff and Anne Barnhart who are regular top of the bill performers are already booked! Watch out for the next blog next month!

Wow,  just saw that I haven’t blogged since July which just goes to show what a great summer we had and that I was too busy to write any further blogs until now!  Christmas is just under 6 weeks away (cannot believe it!) and things are a lot quieter here in Bude.  We are lucky enough to still have occasional days with a warm sun and blue sky which is perfect for a stroll on the beach.  I would like to take this opportunity of wishing all those guests who have stayed with us this year and many regulars who have become our friends very best wishes for the festive season and a Happy and Peaceful New Year, we look forward to seeing many of you in 2012!  Oh and one final reminder that Bude Jazz 2012 is going to happen and it will be running from Tuesday 28th August until Saturday 1st September, more details on http://www.visitbude.info/events/bude-jazz-festival-2012-bude-jazz-2012-p1298683 See you in the New Year!!!

Hi everyone!  Well the school holidays will be starting tomorrow, if they haven’t already in your part of the world and many of you will be heading this way in search of the best beaches, the scenic coastal walks, lots of fun things to do and the local delicacies like Cornish pasties, Cornish ice cream and of course Cream teas!  According to the ten day weather forecast the recent rainy spell is clearing which is good news for all of us!!  We still have a couple of rooms available for Bude Jazz Festival Week which starts on 27th August so we recommend you book as soon as you can!!  Bude Jazz Festival is always a busy and bustling week full of great music and a marvellous atmosphere so take a look at what’s on  http://www.budejazzfestival.co.uk. Well it seems like we are now getting April Showers in June, which is a big shame for all those June Brides! We have a lot of weddings in this part of North Cornwall which is due to the dramatic scenery and the fantastic venues in the area. Many people choose North Cornwall and Bude in particular because they have some link to the area, they have spent childhood holidays here or they have family roots here from the past. Either way weddings have become a significant part of the tourism business in this area and we were lucky enough last year to have the bride and bridesmaids and several members of a wedding party stay with us and it we loved every moment. Fortunately it was July and the weather was awesome! Hopefully this patch of showery and unstable weather will soon pass but everyone of our guests I am happy to say has enjoyed their stay with us inspite of the weather!!! See you soon!!

I took the decision this week to add this cute little Weather Forecast link on our website. I thought it would be informative and be useful as well as fun!! However as soon as it was embedded in the site I started to have second thoughts! Would an icon of a cloud and rain with just the hint of some sun peeking through put some people off booking for that week!! Finally I decided that it was an attractive addition to the site and that most people living in the UK or just visiting are aware of the radical changes in the english weather and come prepared for ANYTHING! Rest assured that whatever the weather in Bude there will always be plenty to see and do in the area even if you cannot spend the day on the beach!! One thing you can be assured of is a very warm welcome inspite of any cold front!!!!
